A time for thermal underwear: cold snap about to get colder

The cold snap that currently has a firm grip on Nova Scotia is about to change to a choke hold.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Nova Scotia warning that temperatures will drop to a low of -20 tonight.

Strong winds are also expected, which will put the temperature closed to -30, especially in the northern mainland.

If the winds are stronger than expected, we could see temperatures near -35 by Tuesday morning.

Environment Canada is warning the public to monitor future forecasts.
