Son Pham headed home

The story of a boy from Vietnam who came to Halifax for medical treatment is coming to an end.
Son Pham, 12, has finished treatment for a large facial growth and will be heading home next week.
A goodbye party this weekend brought together some of the people young Son’s story has touched the most.
One of his Canadian caregivers, Olwyn Walter tells CTV the transformation since son came here is remarkable.
“He’s gone from a quiet, shy, somewhat introverted 10-year-old boy who was obviously self-conscious about his appearance, to a confident young man,” she said.
Son was treated in Boston for a large facial growth that threatened to block his airway.
In a brief interview, he says he’s thankful for all the help he’s gotten and he’ll miss all his friends.
Russ Manderville, who helped raise money for Son’s treatment says he’s thankful to the boy for being such an inspiration.
“We all have things that affect us in life in a negative way, but if you keep pushing, the positive comes out in the end,” he said.
Son won’t be going back to the Hanoi orphanage he lived in before coming to Canada – instead, he’ll live in a village with a family on a small farm.
