Racism in Halifax is ‘pervasive’: protest organizer

About 25 people walked through downtown Halifax with placards and chanting, calling for more diversity in municipal management.
The protest came amid discussions over Africville and a possible hate crime investigation for a cross-burning incident in Hants County.
Charles Adams says he’s had a long standing human rights grievance with HRM because of racism in the workplace.
He says he’s worked in many cities in Canada and racism is pervasive in HRM
“I’d like to see that the diversity committee become more diverse,” says Adams. “I’d like to see actual diverse members.”
Mayor Peter Kelly addressed the crowd briefly, saying HRM would try to be more inclusive.
