Sackville-Eastern Shore MP Peter Stoffer is warning everyone about an e-mail scam making the rounds.
Stoffer says his office received an e-mail purportedly from the Canada Revenue Agency advising him he was in store for a $241.34 refund and asking for personal information like a social insurance number.
He says it looks quite real.
“It’s says Canada Revenue Agency on it, so if you were unsuspecting you’d think from the government of Canada through the CRA,” says Stoffer. “I’m just trying to warn people that things of this nature are very dangerous and to ignore it … do not buy into whatsoever.”
Stoffer says he’s also advised Canada Revenue about the scam.
