Recent Dartmouth fires both set deliberately

Two apartment fires in Dartmouth this week, one of them fatal, are both considered arson cases.

An adult male died in a Pinecrest Drive fire Tuesday, but authorities believe he deliberately set the blaze himself with matches or a lighter.

On Wednesday morning 12 people  were forced from their homes in a fire at a small apartment complex at the corner of Dundas and Portland.

Metro News reports that case has now been handed over to police.

The Red Cross set up a temporary shelter in a community centre nearby for some of those tenants. The rest stayed with relatives.  It’s not known when they’ll be able to go back to their homes.
