Fatal crash claims 49-year-old hockey coach

The victim of a fatal car crash outside Truro has been identified as a hockey coach who was on his way to a tournament in Halifax.

The 49-year-old man died when the car he was a passenger in flipped over on the 102 near Brookfield Thursday morning.

The man’s son and wife, who were in the car, were treated in hospital and released.

Metro Halifax identifies the victim as Mike St. Peter, a coach with the Parrsboro Predators.

Fellow coach Kevin McCrindle tells the paper St. Peter loved coaching and was highly thought of by his players.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
