Get off my lawn!

A city councillor who wants to ban concerts on the Halifax Common says we need to look for other places to host really big shows.

Connaught-Quinpool councillor Jennifer Watts says concerts are great, just not on the Commons.

“If we want to be a community that attracts larger numbers, we need to be seriously looking at another spot that doesn’t affect open green space,” says Watts.

She says most concerts could be held at the Garrison Grounds, with the really big shows somewhere else.

Exhibition Park and Shearwater are a couple possible venues. People on the street were split on the idea.

“They might be able to do something like that, but then it comes down to logistics,” says AJ. “I think the concerts should be right here in the heart of the city.”

Dustin says he would still go to a show outside the city.

“It wouldn’t really hurt my decision if it was at Exhibition Park or something,” he says. “It’s really not that far.”

Watts says the concerts have to go somewhere, because her residents are tired of them.
