Mayor calls on top cops to discuss gun violence

The mayor of HRM says he’s worried about a recent spree of shootings, and will sit down with police brass today to talk about possible solutions.
There have been six shootings in HRM over the past two weeks, including two in Uniacke Square over the weekend in which two men were injured.
Otherwise, the targets have been houses and vehicles.
Peter Kelly tells Metro Halifax he’ll meet with Halifax Regional Police Chief Frank Beazley and RCMP Supt. Darrell Beaton today for an update on their investigations.
Kelly says he wants to work with police and the affected communities to reduce gun violence, but wouldn’t discuss specifics.
There have been no arrests in any of the shootings.
