Dartmouth North MLA returns to legislature

For the first time since being accused of fraud, embattled MLA Trevor Zinck attended the Legislative House of Assembly today. Zinck is accused of using a friend’s credit card to rack up a gambling debt. Although he told reports he has concerns about the serious allegations, he would not speak to them.
“It was recommended that I seek counsel which I did. Upon receiving counsel it was expressed to me that I have no comment until all the allegations and facts are brought together, which they have now,” Zinck told reporters at the Legislature today.
In a letter addressed to media, Zinck says he will hold a press conference to address the allegations of fraud next week. He is represented by W. Dale Dunlop of Walker Dunlop.
Scott Marshall alleges he lent Zinck his credit card while the MLA was acting as his care giver. Marshall accuses Zinck of using the card for online gambling and racking up about $10,000 in debt.
Amid the scandal Zinck says he will continue to attend the house and will not resign.
“Absolutely not. I have a responsibility to uphold. I was elected by the people and I’m here to serve,” said Zinck.
The independent was also ousted from the NDP caucus last month over questions about his expenses.
