Casey wants union apointments looked at

The appointment of three union leaders to the premier’s advisory panel has prompted a call for a conflict of interest investigation.
The president of the Nova Scotia Government Employees Union recently called for boycotts of small businesses in the province.
The president of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers was implicated in illegal campain contributions to the NDP.
Interim Tory leader Karen Casey has asked the premier to reconsider their appointments to his economic advisory panel.
“We would like everybody on that panel to be able to give advice to the premier in an unbiased and objective way,” says Casey. “If it’s deemed by the commissioner that these people are not in conflict and can provide that, you know, I commend the premier for striking a panel, I just want it to be constructive and effective.”
Casey says she was given no indication the appointments would be reconsidered despite concerns.
She has today made a formal request for an investigation into the matter to the conflict of interests commissioner.
