Cops lose locks for leukemia patients

Halifax police officers, accustomed to short hair, will get a springtime chrome-dome cut on Saturday at the Halifax Shopping Centre.
They’re submitting to the clippers to raise money for the Daniel McLellan Memorial Fund, which helps families in Atlantic Canada with children who have leukemia.
Halifax Regional Police Constable Brian Palmeter tells News 95.7 anyone can donate some money and hop in the chair, just like the officers who’ve been collecting in advance.
“Volunteers collect pledges from people in order to shave their heads. Women sometimes don’t always shave their heads although many do,” he said. “Also if you have a ponytail in excess of a certain length they can cut that off, and that hair is actually donated to be made into wigs”
The “Hair for Heroes” event starts at noon and runs until five at the mall’s center court.
As a special treat, Sarge the Police Horse will get a special trim at 2 o’clock Saturday Afternoon.
