Councillor wants parkers to pay for Park & Ride

One HRM councillor wants drivers who use the municipal Park & Ride service to start paying for the parking.

Gloria McCluskey brought the motion for a staff report forward during budget debates today.

“All of these people, your worship, who come in and park in this Park & Ride could come from Truro, could come from anywhere,” says McCluskey. “They jump out of their car, free parking for the day and hop on a bus, while the rest of us subsidize them.”

McCluskey says she’d like the monthly parking fee to still be less than parking garage fees in the downtown core.

There are 11 Park & Ride lots across the municipality.
