Teen stabbed in back by unknown assailant

A 17-year-old boy is recovering from his injuries following Halifax’s latest stabbing.

Police say the victim was at the basketball courts on Creighton Street when someone stabbed him twice in the back.

He ran to nearby Victory Lane and called 911.

Officers arrived and the victim was taken to hospital with minor stab wounds.

Staff Sergeant Darrell Gaudet says a motive in the case in unclear.

“That’s under investigation right now. Our general investigation section are exploring different avenues,” he said. “They haven’t had a chance to really sit down and talk to the victim yet, as he was being treated last night. That investigation is going to continue today.”

The suspect is described only as a white male dressed in black.
