Members of the public have once again taken matters into their own hands in the arrest of a drunk driver.
Two vehicles were involved in a crash around 9 p.m. Wednesday at Primrose and Robert Burns in Dartmouth.
One driver took off before police arrived, Sgt. Gordon Graham says a witness went to great lengths to catch him.
“The driver fled up the street and got in behind a building,” said Graham. “One of the witnesses followed him and saw him in the backyards and ended up running to the back, jumping a fence, grabbing on to him and brought him out to the street.”
The man is facing a charge of impaired driving and is expected in court today.
Four people in the other vehicle were treated on scene by EHS.
