The Halifax Chamber of Commerce is publicly endorsing the proposed new convention centre.
President Valerie Payn says in a press release the plans, studies and business cases all indicate the project is a winner – and she says it’s time to get the project moving.
Payn says the new convention centre will provide job creation, economic growth and tax revenue and contribute to HRM’s overall prosperity.
She adds although there are concerns, there will never be total consensus – and HRM residents are sick of losing out on great opportunities.
The province is waiting for a detailed proposal from developers before deciding whether to support the new facility, which could cost $300 to $500 million
