Nova Scotia looking to attract software developers

Nova Scotia is becoming a leader in recruiting software companies to do business in Canada.

Premier Darrell Dexter says he’ll be participating in the “Develop Britain” software developers’ conference later this week.

He says the country’s newly-elected government slashed tax incentives for the industry.

“The reality is that the current government in the UK has completely cancelled all of their media tax credits,” he said. “As a result there is considerable interest in many of those companies looking for other jurisdictions.”

Dexter calls software development an emerging industry in Nova Scotia.

The province offers a 25 percent tax break for the industry.
