MacKay Bridge closed for a second weekend

For the second weekend in a row the MacKay Bridge is closed for construction.
Last weekend’s MacKay closure brought the open MacDonald bridge to a near standstill at times and this weekend likely won’t be much better.
The Halifax-Dartmouth Bridge Commission apologized last week for the delays on the MacDonald. But the commission’s Alison MacDonald says they’re doing what they can to minimize commuter headaches.
“We take care to plan these types of projects outside of the peak traffic hours,” she said. “And we work around the clock when we are working on this project.”
The MacKay will be open next weekend, but there will be some lane closures.
MacDonald also warns there will be at least one more MacKay closure before all the work is done.
The MacKay Bridge reopens Monday at 5:30.
