Local daycare loses child

Employees with the Bayers Westwood Family Resource Centre took a group of children down to the waterfront for an afternoon outing yesterday.

When they stopped for a rest staff noticed they were missing a child.

Sarah Vaness works at a waterfront tourist information booth.

She tells CTV staff searched frantically for the girl.

“She was extremely panicked and really upset. You could tell she was really stressed out,” said Vaness. “She didn’t have a lot of time to talk she just ran down the boardwalk and tried to find her right away.”

While staff searched someone called police about spotting a lost child.

The girl was picked up a few blocks from the waterfront near a busy downtown intersection.

This is the second time a daycare has lost track of a child this month.

About two weeks ago a six-year-old boy was left behind following a daytrip to the beach.
