Drug storage to be double-locked in all N.S. facilities

The province is making changes to the rules governing drug storage at special care facilities.
A man died in June after he picked the lock on the medicine room at the Quest facility in Lower Sackville and took some drugs.
Ed Ferguson’s family tells CBC he told doctors he drank two litres of stool softener and half a litre of anti-seizure medication.
A second lock has been added to the door of the medicine room and that’s now a requirement at all 95 special care facilities in Nova Scotia.
Community Services is investigating Ferguson’s death but so far a spokesperson says it appears all procedures and policies were followed.
