Emergency funds approved for Dingle seawall

Regional council has approved funds to repair the seawall at the Dingle Tower.

Councillor Linda Mosher told council Tuesday the wall has been crumbling for years. She read a letter from a woman who recently fell into the ocean when a portion of the wall gave way beneath her.

“The bottom line is the wall is falling down, it needs to be replaced, it’s dangerous. Clearly somebody already knows this as barriers and rocks are placed on a regular basis in certain areas,” she read. “Somebody could have been fatally injured, a child. I beg you to fix the wall before it’s too late.”

Mosher says the woman hurt her feet, but could have drowned if she’d hit her head.

She says the wall should never have been allowed to deteriorate to such an extent.
