Police arrest two after brief chases

Police have two men in custody after a pair of short pursuits overnight.

Just before nine Tuesday night officers tried to pull a car over near Atlantic and Pleasant in Dartmouth.

The driver refused to stop and there was a short, low-speed pursuit that ended when the driver pulled into a driveway on Irving Street.

A 61-year-old man was arrested and will be in court today facing several charges including impaired driving.

Around 1 a.m. Wednesday morning, police pulled another car over near Bayers and Romans. As officers were about to arrest the driver for possession of drugs, he took off.

Officers chased him to Romans Avenue, where the driver tried to run.

Police arrested a 20-year-old man soon afterwards. He’s due in court later today.
