ANTIGONISH, N.S. – The commissioner of the CFL says the dream of a franchise in Atlantic Canada is a possibility, but not a probability.
Mark Cohon says the idea of a CFL franchise in Atlantic Canada is decades old, but the league still isn’t making any promises.
He describes an Atlantic franchise as “a possibility,” but he also says it’s not “a probability” until the league knows there’s a large enough fan base and a stadium.
Cohon says with extra seats added to the stadium at the Universite de Moncton, it will have 21,000 seats for Sunday’s game between the Toronto Argonauts and Edmonton Eskimos.
He says a franchise would need a stadium with at least 25,000 seats in a permanent facility.
