VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – BC’s Gang Task Force says seven well-known gangsters were arrested after cops swooped in at a Vancouver park yesterday afternoon.
Two of them are still in custody and facing several firearms-related charges. Investigators say the group was well-known to the long-time gang member who was gunned down at Metrotown earlier this month.
Sergeant Bill Whalen says they’ve been on high alert and doing increased patrols since Gurmit Singh Dhak was shot and killed in his BMW SUV in the parking lot on October 16th.
Whalen says it was on one of those patrols that the officers ran into the seven men at Kensington Park. “When they approached to check these people, one of the males tossed a handgun under a bush to hide it.”
Whalen says they also seized two assault rifles.
