Salt trucks hit the road as temps drop

Yes, those were salt trucks on the road last night.
A bit of rain, mixed with cold weather, and that was the cue to send out the salt squad.
Lindsay Lewis at the Transportation Department says it wasn’t the full snow-clearing team.
“We’re sort of in the season where we monitor weather conditions and road conditions,” says Lewis, “until the official winter maintenance season gets under way, which is at the end of this month.”
Lewis says salters were dispatched to Burnside and out toward the airport.
