Store clerk fights off armed robber

Another store clerk has fought off an armed robber, sending the would-be attacker fleeing empty handed.
Police say a man walked into the Esso Gas station at the Armdale Roundabout just before midnight Monday night.
He tried to threaten the male cashier, but the clerk wrestled him to the floor and the suspect took off.
The cashier wasn’t hurt, but Halifax Regional Police Staff Sgt. Barb Saunders tells News 95.7 it’s risky business to fight back.
“It’s never a great idea to do that,” she said. “There’s the potential to be injured during an altercation like that, so it would be best if the cashier had just called police – but in this instance, everything worked out alright.”
A witness followed the suspect and alerted police in the Quinpool Road area where the suspect was surrounded and eventually surrendered.
a 43 year old man is facing weapons related charges.
