Province ups penalties for some driving offences

The province is increasing the penalties for street racing or stunt driving. The definition of the offence includes driving 50 kilometres an hour above the posted speed limit. A first conviction will now result in a one-year license suspension, three years for a second offense, and ten years for a third conviction.

Also, fines are being doubled for drivers caught using a hand-held cell phone while driving. Plus you’ll get four points on your driving record.
