Weekend fires force several to flee

It was a bad weekend for fires in the province.
On Saturday, a family that had just moved into a new apartment was forced out by a fire a few hours later.
The family of four and two relatives who helped them move, along with another tenant, all escaped unharmed.
Fire officials say careless disposal of a cigarette caused the fire.
On Sunday evening, a family near Truro also had to flee their home after fire damaged the back of their house on Harmony Ridge Road.
They’re staying with family and the Red Cross is helping out with some emergency supplies.
There is no word on a cause yet.
