Halifax man facing multiple charges following hotel robbery

A 42-year-old Halifax man will be spending his Christmas in jail following a robbery at the 4 Points Sheraton Hotel on Hollis Street. David Spencer Dean is charged with robbery, breach of a probation order and breach of a recognizance.

The alleged robbery happened around 3:00am Friday morning. Dean was arrested a short time later in front of Freeman’s Restaurant on Quinpool Road. Police think he may have been trying to rob that place as well.

Halifax Regional Police Spokeswoman, Theresa Rath, tells News 95.7 this man could be connected to other recent crimes.

“We have had a number of robberies of businesses in the Halifax area over the last number of weeks,” Rath says. “We will be exploring the possibility that this person is responsible for those robberies as well. Further charges are possible.”

Dean will appear in court Wednesday, December 29th.
