New Year’s celebrations around HRM tonight

It’s time to kick 2010 to the curb and say hello to 2011!

And there’s no better way to do that than with music and fireworks.

The city will be jumping tonight with all kinds of parties and HRM hosting some free events. HRM and A Channel’s Breakfast Television are celebrating New Year’s Eve at the Grand Parade from 9:30 until 12:15 with performances from the Stanfields, Matt Andersen, Jimmy Rankin and Gordie Sampson.

The municipality is also hosting family New Year’s celebrations on the Canada Games Oval that will include, skating and fireworks. That party gets started at 5:30.

If you go out partying tonight and indulge in some adult beverages, there’s no excuse for driving after.

Metro Transit is offering free bus and ferry service starting at 8:30 tonight.

You can count on lineups at most NSLC locations today and they will be closed tomorrow for the holiday.
