New petition launched opposing permanent oval

Another petition has been launched involving the future of the Commons oval – but this one is calling for it to be dismantled after the Canada Games.

Katie Campbell is opposed to making the oval a permanent fixture on the Commons and says keeping it would be too costly.

She’s gathered more than thirty signatures on her petition, but tells CBC she’s been getting a pretty hostile response.

By comparison, a petition to keep the oval after the Canada Games has more than 7000 signatures and Halifax resident John Gillis has now launched a fundraiser in hopes of raising $50,000 to help with startup costs.
