Nova Scotia man will stand trial for second-degree murder charges

A Nova Scotia man has been ordered to stand trial for second-degree murder.

Demarco Smith of East Preston is charged in the February 2010 stabbing death of Casey Downey in North Preston.

Smith will appear in Supreme Court in Halifax on March 31st to begin setting dates for a trial by judge and jury.

Casey Downey’s body was found February 7th, 2010 by RCMP officers responding to a weapons call.
