A new poll suggests a recently defeated MP could be a serious contender for HRM’s mayor.
The poll from Corporate Research Associates shows 46 per cent of decided voters would cast a ballot for former Liberal MP Mike Savage if he ran for the city’s top job.
Of the 403 voters surveyed, 47 per cent said they’d vote for current mayor Peter Kelly.
Savage lost his Dartmouth-Cole Harbour seat on May 2 to the NDP’s Robert Chisholm and has been coy about a possible mayoral run ever since.
The survey was conducted between May 3 and 14 and has a margin of error of 4.9 percentage points.
