Teachers Union blasts province over education cuts

The Nova Scotia Teachers Union continues to hammer the provincial government over education cuts.

Union president Alexis Allen says the cuts to public education show the government’s failure to recognize the importance of education to a strong economy.

The union says the cuts have also resulted in the loss of more than 200 teaching jobs.

The union held its annual council meeting in Halifax over the weekend, with delegates debating more than 100 resolutions.
