Wall of Thank-yous saved

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Wall of Thank-yous in downtown Vancouver will have a permanent home.
The city has decided to hang on to the boards of plywood covering smashed windows that show messages from the community.
Councillor Heather Deal says the boards go a long way in the city’s healing process — allowing people to vent and express their thanks and love for Vancouver and its emergency crews.
“Well those boards are a really important part of the history of the city. There will be comments made in years future about the riot and I want to make sure that those boards and the outpouring of support that happened the day after the riot are preserved as part of our history as well.”
Sometime soon, and Deal says at minimal cost, the boards will be moved to the Museum of Vancouver at Vanier Park.
She feels the outpouring of emotion in the last few days has been incredible. The city wants ideas on how to display them. E-mail mayorandcouncil@vancouver.ca or call 3-1-1.
