Voyeurism charges possible in peeping tom case

Halifax police say they will decide soon whether to lay charges in a possible peeping tom case.

Police released photos to the public last week of four women who appeared to have been photographed without their knowledge.

Regional police Cst. Brian Palmeter tells News 95.7 two of the women have been identified.

“The two women that have come forward did meet with other agencies at our request and we have obtained statements from them,” he said. “So we’re moving along and we hope to make a decision in the next day or so about charges.”

Palmeter says the women confirmed the pictures were taken without their consent. he says investigators are still looking for the women in the other two images, but are having a hard time pinpointing exactly when the photos were taken.

“We believe the pictures were taken in the south end area, but the time frame’s a little tough to narrow down,” he said. “We believe sometime between the fall of 2007 and spring 2011, so we’ve got quite a window that we’re working with.”

Palmeter says police have a person of interest in the case, who could face the rare charge of voyeurism.
