Gas prices poised for small increase

Last week, gas prices went down by less than a penny – and this week they’ll probably go up by the same amount.

News 95.7 is predicting a small hike at the pumps tonight of a penny or less.

That will move the price of regular self-serve to about $1.235 in metro.

Wholesale prices have been declining for the last week but the loonie also took a beating, offsetting a potential price drop at the pumps.

Regulated prices in New Brunswick went up by a penny overnight to a new maximum of $1.245 a litre. Gas in most places is selling for about $1.22.

Diesel prices went up by 0.8 cents a litre to a new maximum of $1.322.
