Canada’s Got Talent auditions draw hundreds to Halifax

A nation-wide talent search is sampling the population in Halifax over the next two days.

A few Canada’s Got Talent hopefuls were starting to line up at the World Trade and Convention Centre at 6 a.m. Tuesday, in advance of auditions starting at 8 a.m.

Halifax is the last stop on the audition tour.

As many as 1,600 people have registered to perform over the two-day event.

Organizers say they are committed to seeing anyone – absolutely anyone – who shows up.

“I had a girl in Toronto come into my audition room and all she did was burp,” said CityTV producer Sue Brophy.

Brophy says while the burping didn’t go over so well, the producers are open to any kind of talent that’s interesting or impressive – and anyone who comes to the auditions will get a chance to show their stuff.

Judges have already visited Winnipeg, Edmonton, Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto.

After the final auditions are completed the show will be re-doing the auditions with a live-audience. They are due to be back in Halifax on Jan. 5, 2012.

The first season of the reality television series is set to premiere on CityTV in March 2012.

Anyone wishing to audition can stop by the convention centre with two pieces of valid identification, at least one with a photo, and any music or props for your act.

Underage hopefuls need to bring a parent or guardian to sign paperwork.

More details can be found on the Canada’s Got Talent website.
