Weather office issues statement ahead of storm system

It looks like another big storm system may be headed this way.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Halifax county as well as Pictou, Antigonish, Guysborough and Cape Breton.

The statement warns a major low pressure system is approaching Nova Scotia and will have developed into a major storm by Tuesday night.

The current forecast shows some uncertainty about the storm’s strength and where the heaviest rainfall will hit, but it’s likely wind and rainfall warnings will be issued.

On Thursday, the province was drenched by a record-breaking rainfall of more than 100mm.
