The First Contract bill introduced by the NDP last week is far from a cut and dry issue and it looks like the debate on it could be a lengthy one.
The Chronicle Herald reports both the PC and Liberal parties say they’ll have all of their MLA’s – 20 in total – use the full hour each member is allotted to talk about the bill in an effort to try and stop it.
Conservative Leader Jamie Baillie tells the paper his party is trying to kill the bill because it’s, “a very bad idea and it could not be coming at worse time.”
Deputy house leader Andrew Younger says the bill is wrong for Nova Scotia at this time and says the government needs to examine its priorities.
Labour groups support the bill saying it will speed up the process of getting first contracts done.
