Stranger offers $30,000 reward for missing woman’s return

As the search continues for missing Dartmouth resident Melissa Dawn Peacock, a good samaritan is offering a reward worth $30,000 for anyone with information on her whereabouts.
Dianne Rossiter of Moncton, NB says she heard the family’s plea for information and wanted to help.
“I saw her mom on TV and saw how heartbroken she was,” Rossiter said. “I just decided to put up my wedding ring set as a reward for information to help her come home.”
She tells News 95.7 that the set has been appraised at $30,000.
Peacock was last heard from on Nov. 7 when she sent a text message to her family. James Slaunwhite, Peacock’s stepfather, says she has been known to stray from home occasionally, but never before for this long.
Rossiter says she felt compelled to step in.
“I have children of my own and I don’t know how I would feel,” she says. “I can’t even possibly imagine what Ruth and James are going through right now, not even knowing where she is.”
I know they don’t have a lot of money, and it just breaks my heart. The rings are something that just aren’t that important to me.”
Rossiter does not know the family personally, but says her valuable ring set will be given to anyone who helps bring Melissa home.
