Oval sponsorship contracts up for final approval

Halifax Regional Council will finalize the sponsorship contracts for the skating oval today.

Molson Coors has offered $400,000 for naming rights on the entertainment plaza and will pay an additional $12,000 for 15 signs and flags.

The Herald reports the company has agreed to use three signs to promote “socially responsible alcohol usage,” and some of the advertising will be portable so it can be removed during events for minors.

Emera will pay $500,000 for naming rights to the oval and another $121,000 for about 40 signs.

The contract is good for at least 10 years.
