Pilot project to improve treatment for shelter users

People living with addictions in HRM will soon have improved access to counselling.

Capital Health is partnering with Metro Turning Point in a new pilot project to help increase the level of treatment available.

Shelter staff will be given advanced training to learn how to handle different sorts of addictions, ranging from alcohol to drugs and gambling.

About 80 per cent of people who use shelters suffer from addiction and mental health issues.

The program will launch in the new year.
