Amalgamated Transit Union reveals Metro Transit manager wages

We’re in week three of the transit strike in Halifax and spreadsheets released by ATU president Ken Wilson are showing us transit managerial salaries.
According to The Chronicle Herald, the spreadsheets show that from July 2010 to November 2011, the city increased its managerial Metro Transit staff by about 50 per cent.
That means there’s about one manager for every eight union members, and spending on managerial salaries grew to $6 million from $3.5 million.
The union says when Metro Transit’s top job was classified as a general manager, the position paid $85,000 to $120,000 a year while the current “director” position pays $135,000 to $165,000.
Meanwhile, no new talks have been scheduled between the city and the union.
