By all accounts, it’s already been a successful season, with the team securing the sixth seed that will see them go up against the Moncton Wildcats in the first round of the playoffs which start Friday night.
Coach Dominique Ducharme says the regular season success came because everyone chipped in to help the team and he’s looking for more of the same from his team in junior hockey’s second season.
“We’re not looking for one guy,” he says. “It’s really the 20 guys dressed in the lineup that will need to be playing and making a difference.”
He’s pleased with the way the team performed in the regular season, but he says the playoffs are another story.
“Obviously we want to have an impact on the playoffs like we wanted to take a major step up in the standings when we started the season, but its two different things,” he explains.
The voice of the herd John Moore tells News 95.7 there is one thing this team lacks: playoff experience.
“They are capable of making some noise, but there are a lot of question marks regarding the younger players and how they’ll perform in the post-season but this is a good team obviously, finishing sixth in the overall standings,” says Moore.
He argues goaltending will be the key in the first round.
“I think you’ve got two of the best goaltenders in the Quebec league, so you’re going to see some exceptional goaltending in this series.”
But he says ultimately it will come down to who works hardest and who wants it most.
