Protective gear saved boy from coyote mauling

The father of a teenager attacked by a coyote in Cape Breton says it’s a good thing the boy was wearing protective gear.
Brandon Bisson was bitten on the legs and backside by the wild dog when he stepped off his dirt bike on a trail in the Westmount area Tuesday night.
The coyote knocked him to the ground and bit his feet and the “fleshy area” behind his knee, but Brandon wasn’t seriously hurt.
Brandon’s father Joe tells the Herald, Brandon was wearing thick protective pants and the coyote’s teeth couldn’t penetrate to the flesh.
The attack ended when Brandon was able to knee the animal in the stomach and climb to his feet.
A trapper has been called in to lay traps around the trail today.
