There appears to be a truce between the province and the board of an addictions recovery house in Cape Breton.
The two sides met Tuesday for the first time since an ugly bureaucratic battle erupted in March.
Talbot House was closed after an accusation of misconduct against executive director, Rev. Paul Abbass.
Police found no basis to launch an investigation, but in the meantime, the Department of Community Services launched an operational review of the home and cut nearly half a million dollars in annual funding.
The Talbot House board called the review flawed, but the department went ahead and issued a request for proposals for a replacement facility.
The Herald reports the two sides met Tuesday and the minister has now rescinded the RFP.
She says Talbot House could reopen within a year, as long as its operations are up to snuff.
