Discussions held on the return of Yarmouth ferry

Nova Scotia Premier Darrell Dexter isn’t ruling out a return of the Yarmouth ferry.

An expert panel gathered in the southwestern town this week to gather information and discuss what would be required for a viable ferry service.

Dexter says it’s difficult to find a partner to help the provincial government fund the service between Yarmouth and Maine.

He adds any ferry service between southwestern Nova Scotia and Maine has to be sustainable.

The premier says his government’s next move depends heavily on the panel’s findings.

The ferry hasn’t operated since 2009.
