No injuries in overnight fires

No one was hurt in either of two separate fires overnight, one of which is being investigated as an arson.
Regional police were called to a home in the 100 block of Herring Cove Road around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, and found an apartment in a multi-unit house had been set on fire.
There were people inside at the time, but everyone made it out unharmed.
Regional fire crews put the flames out quickly and no other apartments were affected.
Most tenants have been allowed back into their homes and police are now investigating.
Dozens of firefighters from rural HRM also rushed to a house fire that started 4:15 a.m. in Elmsdale.
The Laker newspaper reports the home on Richard Street has been extensively damaged.
There were people inside at the time, but they all escaped safely.
Lightning is being considered as a possible cause.
