Undercover operation nets HRP 15 arrests

Halifax Police are announcing 15 arrests in connection to drug trafficking in Metro. Police say the arrests, 12 of which happened Wednesday in Halifax, were as a result of a three-month long undercover operation.
Four arrests happened in Dartmouth a few weeks earlier.
HRM Deputy Chief Bill Moore says while teams did not seize a huge quantity of drugs, the message is clear.
“Number One if you are going to deal drugs in HRM, then we are coming for you. That’s the first message,” he told a media conference at Police Headquarters on Gottingen Street. “And Number Two, that we’re not interested in people providing legal drugs to members in HRM.”
He says the types of drugs being dealt and trafficked were mostly crack cocaine and various forms of Dilaudid.
Moore says the earlier arrests in Dartmouth were not made public until now to better their chances at more arrests on the peninsula.
“There was a decision made not to publicly talk about the first one, only because we had another operation underway,” he says. “And so we just waited until we could bring the two of them here, so that there would be no crossover. But they were separate operations.”
Police say the people under arrest are associated with one another, but not necessarily connected.
