Rainfall warnings up for the Maritimes.

Up to 100 mm of rain is in the forecast today for parts of the Maritimes.

Rainfall warnings have been issued for northeastern Nova Scotia, Cape Breton, southern New Brunswick and eastern P.E.I.

Communities across the southern half of N.B. are expected to see up to 75 mm of rain.

However, Environment Canada forecasters say some areas in the province could get drenched with up to 100 mm by Thursday morning.

Lesser amounts are expected elsewhere, with warnings that isolated showers could bring heavy downpours.

Forecasters say a low pressure system over New England will track eastward over Cape Breton by Thursday evening.

Halifax is not under a weather warning, but was forecast to see 30 to 50 mm of rain by Wednesday night.
